About Us Little Angels Nursery

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world". Nelson Mandela

Little Angels Nursery has been established in Hamworthy for 20+ years l We are based in the centre of Hamworthy with a woodland area on our doorstep for the children to go on adventures and explore, a large car park for easy access and free to park and a large outdoor space perfect for exploring, playing and growing vegetables for snack times.

As a parent, your choice of childcare is a very important decision.
At Little Angels, you can be sure that your child will be in a safe, caring and loving environment with staff that love caring for and teaching young children.
It is our intention to make our nursery accessible to all children and families regardless of their gender, special educational needs, disabilities, background, religion, ethnicity and language through open, fair and clearly communicated procedures.

What makes Little Angels different?
Children learn through fun interesting activities that keep them stimulated and eager to learn.
We provide a wide range of new experiences and activities for the children and we encourage independence and self confidence throughout. We believe that role play is essential in early years to encourage speech and language
We pride ourselves on our relationship with the local community including visits from our local fire brigade, community police officers,  and joining in with the church celebrations.
We want to develop good positive parent relationships. Using online journals can help us to achieve this by giving us and parents a shared tool to monitor and celebrate their child's development. When we publish an observation, photo or video, parents can view it through their Tapestry App.

EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE

At Little Angels, we work with the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. Using this framework, we are able to plan and provide a wide range of child and adult led play which helps children to make steady progress in all areas of development.

PRIME AREAS OF LEARNING:

  • Communication and language

  • Physical development

  • Personal, social and emotional development

SPECIFIC AREAS OF DEVELOPMENT:

  • Literacy

  • Mathematics

  • Understanding the world

  • Expressive arts and design

We are mindful that each child is unique and through positive relationships and enabling environments, children will learn and develop.

Little Angels Preschool Nursery Admissions & Settling in Policy

Statement of Intent

It is our intention to make our preschool nursery accessible to children and families from all sections of the local community. We are committed to being as inclusive as possible regarding our admissions for our preschool nursery.  This policy outlines our approach to preschool admissions, our admissions criteria, and our plans for offering funded childcare in a sustainable and inclusive manner.

Aim

To ensure that Little Angels Preschool Nursery is accessible to all sections of the community, through open, fair, and clearly communicated procedures. To promote smooth and stress-free transitions to the setting, ensuring both children and parents/carers are happy.

We care for children between the ages of 15 months and four years of age, and the numbers and ages of children admitted to the preschool Nursery comply with the legal space requirements set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). When considering admissions, we are mindful of staff: child ratios and the facilities available at the preschool. We are registered with Ofsted. We do not require children to be toilet trained on admission.

Accessibility

Little Angels Preschool Nursery aims to ensure its services are accessible to all sections of the community as per the Equal Opportunities Policy. The setting will attempt to communicate its services in locations throughout the community, in more than one language as appropriate.

The preschool Nursery exists to provide resources, facilities, and expertise locally to meet the needs of people in the surrounding area.

The preschool Nursery advertises through the Childcare Information center, our face book page and website

The preschool welcomes both fathers and mothers, other relations, and carers, including childminders.

We describe our preschool Nursery and its practices in terms of how it treats individuals, regardless of their gender, special educational needs, disabilities, background, religion, ethnicity, or competence in Spoken English.

Our owner takes responsibility for meeting with new families ensuring they have the correct information regarding the Pre-school and gathering information on the child.

Offering Places, funding and fees.

Fully funded sessions may be available for two, three and four-year old’s, subject to eligibility and the availability of sessions and staffing arrangements. We are flexible to the parents needs so there are no set sessions, we just ask a minimum of 2 hours attendance per day, between the hours of 8.00am and 3.00pm term time, we are open to stretching 30 hours funding for working parents into the holiday club, this can be discussed on an individual basis. Our holiday club is 1 week at Christmas, 1 week at Easter and 4 weeks in the summer we close all half terms, 1 week at Christmas, 2 weeks Easter and 2 weeks summer.

All funded sessions are in line with the flexible arrangement as specified by the Government. When you register your child for their funded place, we will discuss your needs and, as far as possible with availability and staffing arrangements, we will accommodate your wishes.

We strongly believe that all children should have fair and equal access to snacks and activities, and we therefore do not charge any top-up fees or registration fees, or consumables, any extra hours above the government funded will be £6.00 per hour.

Prior to a child attending our preschool Nursery, parents must complete and sign a contract and registration form. These forms provide the preschool with personal details relating to the child. For example, name, date of birth, address, emergency contact details, parental responsibilities, dietary requirements, collection arrangements, fees, and sessions, contact details for parents, doctor’s contact details, health visitor contact details, allergies, parental consent, and vaccinations etc.

Children leaving for school in the July/August of their academic school year to start in September will not be permitted to stay back at the preschool beyond this time as we do not have the capacity to keep any children beyond this, exceptional circumstances will be considered.

Settling in

Once a place has been offered each child is assigned an Early Years Educator as a key person. The manager will take responsibility for contacting families and arranging appropriate settling in sessions (stay & play). The first two of these sessions allows for parents to stay with their child to allow their child an informal introduction to the preschool nursery and for parents and key persons to have time to communicate about specific needs and personalities. An ‘All About Me Page ’ will be requested to fill in on the childs personal e journal Tapestry, any additional needs will be discussed and a care plan filled in.

Subsequent settling in sessions will be organised to meet the needs of the specific child, this process usually takes up to 2 weeks, but it is important that child, parent, and preschool nursery are happy before a child attends their full sessions. Key workers keep records of children’s progress during this period.

The settling process is viewed as an essential part of ensuring children have a positive time at preschool nursery and we will be flexible in extending this period and offering families additional support.
